12 Jul PTO awards 4th patent – “Blockchain”
This week the US Patent and Trademark Office awarded a 4th patent to Linket founder Boudville for the Linket project – Blockchain and deep links for mobile apps. A key idea of the patent is regional blockchains. For example, a Texas blockchain whose nodes are only in Texas. The prevailing ideology of blockchain advocates is for a blockchain to be global. But there is no technical need to that to be the case. A private blockchain can easily restrict where its nodes are. While a public blockchain might have to jump thru more technical hoops, it too can impose such a constraint on its nodes.
The other feature of the patent is to write deep links to that regional blockchain, where the links encode location information about mobile devices.
