08 Jul Economist finds problem with Gigs
A recent 19 June 2019 article in the Economist found a big problem with the gig economy. A worker joins an online platform like Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Lyft, Uber or many others, to sell goods or services. On each she gets a work rating. But if she moves to a different platform, she cannot transfer her rating. She has to start from scratch on the new platform. Forget getting your data from Facebook. On the other platforms,, just transferring your work rating is not possible. The platforms do not interoperate.
This is exactly the problem Linket tackles. A person’s linket can hold her work ratings for each platform she is active on. If she migrates to a new platform, her ratings on her previous platforms are available for perusal for visitors to the Linket site.
